BLACK PRAIRIE PERFORMS WILD ONES
Black Prairie, the versatile Portland, Oregon, folk and bluegrass group reprises William Hornaday's work to confront the tragic near-extinction of the American bison in the late-1880s. In a sound-track from their 2013 album, the group's musicians give plaintive voice to the tragic loss of the American bison, and to Hornaday's anguished plea-from-the-grave, urging the safekeeping of his hard-won museum specimens. The work premiered in 2013, and subsequently toured the nation in concert with "Wild Ones" author Jon Mooallem.
